Community and Neighbors for Ninth District Unity (CANNDU NC)

Introduction CANNDU NC was founded by Horace Penman and was certified by the City of Los Angeles in 2003, thus becoming an officially recognized advisory council and part of the Los Angeles Citywide system of neighborhood councils. CANNDU NC is comprised of stakeholders who share a common goal. That goal is to continually improve the neighborhood and make it a better and safer place to live. CANNDU NC is charged with enduring the integrity of spirit of the bylaws and guidelines set forth by the City of Los Angeles. Purpose The Purpose Statement of CANNDU NC is to participate as an advisory body on issues of concern to our neighborhood council and in the governance of the City of Los Angeles. Mission The Mission of this council is to provide an inclusive open forum for public discussion of issues concerning City governance, the needs of this neighborhood council, delivery of City services to this neighborhood council and on matters of a Citywide nature. CANNDU Council Meetings are held every 4th Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Van Meter Center. You are invited to come and let your voice be heard. This is the only way CANNDU can address your concerns and issues. Empower your community. Improve life in your community. Become an active member of your community. Stakeholders Definition Stakeholders are defined as individuals who live, work attend church or school, provide services, or own a business or property within the boundaries of CANNDU. Stakeholders shall also include individuals who participate in educational institutions, religious institutions, community organizations, block clubs, neighborhood associations, school/parent groups, faith-based groups and organizations, senior groups and organizations, chambers of commerce, business improvement districts, service organizations, park advisory board groups and/or redevelopment action boards within the boundaries of CANNDU.
